New Media company New Mind's success continues after collecting Small Business of the Year at a prestigious regional awards ceremony.

The Liverpool-based firm, which is renowned for its cutting edge tourism technology, won "The O2 Small Business of the Year" category at the Liverpool Daily Post's Regional Business Awards on Wednesday 16th July.

Judges were particularly impressed with New Mind's clear and creative business strategy.

New Mind, based in the Queens Dock Business Centre, overcame competition from Wirral marketing group ICE and Liverpool's Northern Brickwork to win the small business category.

The black tie event, hailed the most prestigious event in Merseyside's business calendar, attracted hundreds of leading business figures to St George's Hall. It was hosted by newsreader Peter Sissons and saw a speech from music mogul Pete Waterman.

It is an exciting era for New Mind. Having established a major share of the UK tourism market with its acclaimed Destination Management System, staff are busy exploring opportunities for its tourism software in overseas markets.

New Mind's growth strategy is in full swing, having recently taken on five new members of staff at its premises in the Queens Dock Business Centre.

The company recently revealed its turnover for the first quarter of 2008 was up 100% on the same period last year.

Richard Veal, Managing Director of New Mind, said: "My co-director Andy and myself are absolutely thrilled to receive the accolade of best small business on Merseyside. Coming as it does just months before our tenth birthday, we feel that the award fittingly crowns our achievements over the past decade. It also heralds the next phase of New Mind's evolution as we take our eTourism solution to international markets. All in all, it is fantastic to get recognition for the hard work and considerable expertise of the team we have built up here in Liverpool and will no doubt motivate us on to still greater things."
