New Mind have completed the re-development of www.visitlancashire.com this week, exploiting a host of innovative new features.

New Mind originally developed the site for the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) back in 2002 and it was revisited in 2006 for a design makeover and some functionality enhancements. The new site aims to position Lancashire at the forefront of web technology, attracting new markets, improving personal contact with current visitors and providing a platform for interaction and collaboration.

LBTB Site

With a much fresher look, engaging content, easy to use navigation and stunning new photography, the site opens some of the county's hidden gems to a world of online opportunity. Rather than simply retrieving information, visitors are able to actively participate on the visitLancashire blog by contributing content or interacting with other users as part of an online community.

Visitors can browse through news, video, editor's picks, event highlights or simply click on 'Inspire Me!' for ideas and tempting offers. The Destination Guide provides instant access to some of Lancashire's favourite towns and villages, with details on their location and proximity for easy trip planning. Tabbed views on product pages provide seamless navigation through a wealth of information, images and maps. Plus the new Travel Planner facility allows users to build their own itinerary by adding their choices of where to stay, visit and eat and providing a mapped itinerary to print out and take with them on their trip.

The in-house marketing team are able to incorporate user generated content from a variety of online sources including social networking sites such as You Tube and Trip Advisor. Promotions such as photography competitions can be launched with ease utilising existing technologies such as Flickr.

The site will continue to evolve and future developments include consumer reviews, improved on-line booking and a mobile friendly version, providing even greater choice and interactivity.
