A new channel site for Salisbury, www.visitsalisbury.co.uk has been developed by New Mind | tellUs, representing a single integrated platform for the promotion of the City and setting out to position Salisbury as one of the top destinations in the South for both day and staying visitors.
Known as the 'city in the countryside', Salisbury is surrounded by a quintessentially English landscape and is famous for its Early English Gothic cathedral, home to the Magna Carta, as well as some of England's finest historic houses.
The site has been developed as part of a new partnership between VisitWiltshire and Salisbury BID, with both organisations working together on a coordinated marketing strategy to drive traffic to www.visitsalisbury.co.uk.
The design of the site is based on the VisitWiltshire template but has its own unique branding and bespoke homepage. In addition to the standard tourism content, visitors and residents are able to browse a full business directory to access a range of services including dentists, accountants and letting agents.
Working closely with VisitWiltshire, the New Mind | tellUs SEO team has ensured that both the VisitWiltshire and Salisbury sites are well optimised and structured in an intuitive manner which signposts visitors to relevant content, whether they are local businesses, residents or tourists.
Fiona Errington, VisitWiltshire’s Marketing Manager says, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Salisbury BID. This will give us a coordinated approach of tactical campaign activity which will drive consumers to the new website ensuring a cohesive, trackable, results-driven approach. The website will continue to improve Salisbury’s competitive position and regain market share in order to grow tourism to the area.
This project is part of VisitWiltshire’s strategic objective to build digital engagement, increasing unique visitor numbers to over 1.5 million per annum. The new Salisbury channel site will contribute to us achieving this target,” she added.
Kat Salmon, from Salisbury BID says “We are delighted with the new website as it offers all our levy payers a digital platform to market their businesses to their customers, ensuring those without their own websites a digital presence. We’re excited that the website will benefit both the local community as well as visitors, who will be able find out about everything going on in the city, alongside information about all the local businesses.”
The first joint marketing campaign is ‘Christmas in Salisbury’, with three partners, Salisbury BID, VisitWiltshire and Salisbury City Council. There will be a range of online and offline activity pushing visitors to www.visitsalisbury.co.uk/christmas to find out more.
