Collaboration Reaps Rewards for Spain's Jewel in the Crown

A sophisticated new destination site developed by New Mind | tellUs for the Province of Malaga and the Costa del Sol represents a major industry collaboration and an opportunity to deliver multiple benefits for both tourism businesses and the visitor.

The Costa del Sol is often regarded as the jewel in the crown of Spain's coastal holiday destinations accounting for 40% of tourism in Andalucía and more than 17 million overnight stays a year. The region’s rich cultural heritage, fabulous beaches and charming hinterland of towns and villages appeal to a broad range of visitors of all ages and interests.

The new site, is the result of a collaboration with multiple partners on an unprecedented scale, providing visitors with unrivalled access to a host of complementary products and services, all from the main destination website. 

For example, the integration of CarTrawler, a car rental aggregator, allows website visitors to search for the best deals from a variety of providers around the globe.  Golfers benefit from the ability to book tee times and check course ratings via a link to the GolfSwitch global tee bookings platform and integration with the Spanish table reservation service, provides swift access to reviews, ratings, menus, photos, availability information and bookings.

Some of the familiar New Mind |tellUs signature features have been enhanced to include new functionality to improve the user experience.  The new Itinerary Planner now includes booking buttons to streamline the process and boost conversions and a clever enhancement to the searches enables the visitor to filter just those providers who are presenting a special offer or deal.

The marketing team at Visit Costa del Sol have worked extremely hard to write hundreds of pages of copy as well as source a fabulous range of destination imagery. The homepage is particularly vibrant at the time of launch as the destination builds up to holy week and the Easter festivities.

As well as the main destination website, there are also 9 channel websites dedicated to specialist thematics such as Golf, Luxury Travel, Health and Wellbeing, Cruises etc. and all of this content has been professionally translated into 4 languages – Spanish, English, French and German.

The armoury of features are seamlessly woven into a clean, yet vibrant design utilising high impact imagery within an easy to use navigational structure.The visitor is further compelled to discover the wealth of tourism potential which exists beyond the coastal regions by exploring the destination's 9 regions, 101 towns and villages and stunning countryside through a series of bespoke interactive maps that were also developed as part of the project.
