A new template site, based on the design and functionality of www.visittelemark.com has been released this month for Visit Kragerø.
Kragerø is an idyllic coastal destination, characterised by clear blue water and stunning views. Located to the south in the county of Telemark, at the mouth of the Oslo fjord, Kragerø has a population of approximately 5500 in Kragerø city and 11000 in the municipality of Kragerø. During the Summer months its population is quadrupled due to the popularity of the city and its surroundings with both Norwegians and international tourists. According to London newspaper, The Independent, when Norwegians want to get away from it all, they head for Kragerø.
The new site, www.visitkragero.no showcases the stunning scenery, sophistication and diversity of Kragerø's tourism offering, with its archipelago of 495 islands, islets and reefs and many idyllic lakes, perfect for silent canoeing or fishing. Other popular outdoor activities include cycling, sea rafting, swimming and hiking.
Arts and culture, both long traditions in Kragerø, are also featured on the site. The coastal area's unique light has inspired many artists, including Edvard Munch when he painted "The Sun" and "History" for the university of Oslo. He was said to have fallen in love with Kragerø, calling it 'The Pearl of the Coastal Towns'.
Main attractions besides the city itself are highlighted, including the Jomfruland area and the Gea Norvegica Geopark (a UNESCO project, preserving natural cultural heritage), Theodor Kittelsen's house (famous Norwegian artist and writer) and the coastal fortress Gunnarsholmen.
The site was officially launched at an event attended by 250 tourism industry professionals and local politicians from across the County of Telemark.
