New Industry Site Will Keep Outer Hebrides Tourism Providers Connected

New Mind | tellUs has won a tender to develop a new responsive industry site which will be fundamental in elevating the exposure for the Outer Hebrides' tourism providers and positioning the islands as a world class sustainable tourism destination.
Situated on Europe's Atlantic edge, the Outer Hebrides are a diverse chain of inter-connected islands with their own unique way of life and an abundant assortment of attractions and entertainment. The islands attract 200,000 visitors per annum, supporting an industry of around 1000 FTE jobs worth an estimated £50+ million to the area's economy.
New Mind | tellUs delivered the current version of the visitor facing destination site, www.visitouterhebrides.co.uk in December 2012. Before its launch, Outer Hebrides Tourism had around 80 members but six months after the new solution was implemented, the membership had increased to 250 members! Traffic to the site has also grown from 98k unique visitors in 2013, 236k in 2014 and between January and August this year an impressive 210k unique visitors have already been achieved.
The new industry site aims to build on this success by featuring an invaluable repository of useful information for the Outer Hebrides' tourism trade including funding, advertising opportunities and membership benefits as well as a dedicated, password protected area for member only content. Streamlining this information will enable the team at Outer Hebrides Tourism to focus on promoting the Island’s by reducing their time spent administrating the membership base. A responsive format is a prerequisite, allowing the island's more remote businesses to be able to access the site via their mobiles and tablets and to ensure the site benefits from improved search engine rankings by passing Google’s mobile-friendly test.

The new site will be showcased at the next Annual Tourism Conference on the 6th and 7th October.
