Hot on the heels of enlisting the help of New Mind | tellUs to develop a new visitor site, Visit Surrey has now been selected by the British Library to feature in the UK Web Archive.
Established in 2004, the UK Web Archive captures and archives websites from the UK domain, responding to the challenge of a ‘digital black hole’ in the nation’s memory. It contains specially selected websites that represent different aspects of online life in the UK. The organisation works closely with leading UK institutions to collect and permanently preserve the UK web. The archive can be viewed at www.webarchive.org.uk.
Meanwhile following an intensive two day workshop last month involving the Visit Surrey and New Mind | tellUs project teams, the creation of a brand new site is now underway. The site will promote the County as a diverse destination with vibrant towns nestling alongside historic villages and stunning countryside, all conveniently located close to London.
Not only must the site provide for the needs of tourists and residents but it must also meet the expectations of local businesses, offering an extensive range of promotional opportunities to suit all budgets and requirements.
The site's design will be clean and simple with motivational, yet warm and friendly content, consistent with Visit Surrey's brand values. Imagery and film will be used to captivate and social media will be exploited to engage the visitor before, during and post-visit.
