Fjord Norway Launch is a Key Milestone in Scandinavian Rollout

15th January 2016

Categories: Our News

The first phase of a major project involving the development of a regional site for one of Norway's most spectacular destinations, Fjord Norway, plus 12 individual destination sites has been completed by the team at New Mind | tellUs.

The launch of the new Fjord Norway site, www.fjordnorway.com represents a significant milestone in the rollout of the New Mind | tellUs e-tourism solution across Scandinavia.

Fjord Norway is a stunning destination boasting some of the most beautiful fjords in the world. In 2009 the fjords of Western Norway were voted the best-preserved attraction on UNESCO's World Heritage List by National Geographic magazine. The city of Bergen (www.visitbergen.com) is famous throughout the world for its unique charm and atmosphere and is also a UNESCO world heritage city.

The region boasts a wealth of things to do and places to go, all featured on the new responsive site and complemented by stunning imagery reflecting Fjord Norway's breathtaking scenery.  The site introduces a whole range of options for active visitors including skiing, hiking, climbing, kayaking and surfing, plus cultural experiences such as festivals, theatre, galleries and architecture and local food.

A key benefit to Fjord Norway's tourism providers is the introduction of a new polling engine which integrates with multiple booking systems, allowing the region's businesses to boost their exposure to a whole new level.  This means that for the first time Fjord Norway's attractions, activities and accommodation products can be accessed and booked via a wide range of sources including booking.com.  Previously the area's providers would have to join a common booking system to allow this level of exposure.

Tibor Alexander Maehlum, Head of Web & New Media comments: "Working with New Mind | tellUs has been one of the most positive professional web experiences I’ve had in my 20 years as a web entrepreneur.

The launch of the new Fjordnorway.com website has enabled us to promote the destination to a new level.  Now that Fjord Norway is represented by an impressive, user friendly and responsive solution, we are finally ready to showcase the Fjord Norway region, whether you prefer to use your computer, phone or perhaps your TV!"

Michael Borge, Managing Director of New Mind | tellUs Scandinavia comments: "Fjord Norway is one of the most important geographical tourism areas in Norway. This is apparent in Visit Norway's international marketing of Norway where the Fjords are the key ingredient. Bergen, the gateway to the Fjords, is of course one of the most significant city destinations in Norway as the 'capital' of the Fjord Norway region. The oil capital of Norway, Stavanger is also an important city in this region.

New Mind | tellUs is extremely proud to have won the Fjord Norway contract and is very pleased with the resulting user-friendly and fresh looking responsive website and its stunning images. In addition to the www.fjordnorway.com website we have also launched a beautiful new responsive website for the city of Bergen, www.visitbergen.com. Over the next few months we will be launching another 11 DMO websites in the region in addition to a large number of channel sites. This is a huge and complex project for us and we can't wait to tell you more about the overall improvements that we expect the new platform will give the Fjord Norway region."

New Mind | tellUs is looking forward to working with the Fjord Norway team on the continuous evolution of the site, as well as the upcoming launch of the DMO sites over the coming months...
