Preparations Commence for the Mayflower 400 Celebrations

The winning partnership between Visit Plymouth and New Mind | tellUs continues as the development of a brand new site gets underway this month.
Visit Plymouth's partnership with New Mind | tellUs goes back to 2009 when the original destination site was developed and subsequently redesigned in 2011 as part of a wider project with Devon. Since then www.visitplymouth.co.uk has achieved significant success, generating a 550% growth in traffic due to the team's diligence in continually creating new engaging content combined with the inherent SEO capabilities of the New Mind | tellUs platform.
Branded 'Britain's Ocean City', Plymouth is one of Europe's most vibrant waterfront cities and is bordered by the rugged tors of Dartmoor, the rolling South Hams hills and stunning Cornish landscapes. World famous events such as the America’s Cup in 2011 and La Solitaire du Figaro in 2014, as well as the annual MTV Crashes festival and the British Fireworks Championships have helped Plymouth to grow its reputation both in the UK and overseas.
The 400 year anniversary of the Mayflower sailing in 2020 will be a major focus for the Visit Plymouth team and its partners over the next four years and the site will form the foundations of a strategy to exploit the international interest generated.
The web development project will be a joint initiative involving Plymouth City Council, The Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, Plymouth City Centre Company and Destination Plymouth. Prerequisites for the new site include simplifying the visitors' journey by consolidating its pages and content, a responsive design with all the New Mind | tellUs signature features and the ability to incorporate new revenue generating elements for Visit Plymouth and its tourism businesses.
