Costa del Sol Panoramic Tour Delivers Immersive Experience

New Mind | tellUs client, Visit Costa del Sol has taken the challenge to create a more immersive and interactive experience to a whole new level following the launch of its new 360 degree virtual tour this week,

Created by Spanish based production company, I Love the World SL, this ambitious and logistically challenging project covering the whole province involved a large team of multi-disciplinary professionals operating with military precision.  An abundance of planning and patience, as well as hours of hiking were all necessary in order to fulfil the brief.

To cover the whole coast, including the area's beaches, ports and villages, photographers in helicopters, drones and even hot air balloons were deployed. Shots from multiple angles were obtained in order to give the visitor a unique perspective and a powerful feeling of walking on clouds while enjoying the views.  For the breath-taking views of sunsets and sunrises, the team was often up early and had to move fast to allow time for setting up the cameras.  It was also important to convey Malaga's 'special light' referred to by people in Southern Spain as the 'tener duende' or magical halo.  For the inland part of the tour, exploring Malaga's mountains and beautiful white villages, the creative team set out to provide a different flavour conveying the idea that each location possesses its own unique character and charm.

Available in English, Spanish, French, German, Russian and Chinese, the finished product certainly captures the province's magic.  Visitors can explore the area's monuments, towns, landscapes, marinas, beaches, caves, plazas and leisure attractions using the navigation bar or by scrolling through the images, taking the option to check out interior or aerial and daylight or dusk views for some attractions.  Clicking on the 'i' symbol takes the visitor direct to the individual product pages and the map funciton provides information on the attractions' exact locations.  The tour is also responsive, providing an optimised experience whether being viewed on desktop or mobile device.  

Visit Costa del Sol has achieved a series of successes since the launch of the destination site, from New Mind | tellUs in March 2015. In June 2015 the site was voted best German language tourism site in the country by German publication, VWF.  A video, entitled 'A Lifetime' telling the story of an American tourist who decided to stay in Malaga has also been a hit, appearing in a list of the most popular YouTube ads in Spain during May 2015.  The video was translated into English and in six weeks was broadcast in more than one hundred countries around the world.
