Long-standing client of NVG, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) has launched a brand new responsive website as the destination prepares to be propelled into the spotlight.
Visit Hull and East Yorkshire is a tourism organisation formed as a partnership between Hull City Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the private sector. Tourism is a major economic driver in the region generating over £800m tourism spend per year and supporting around 16,000 jobs. The organisation's primary objective for the new website is to increase tourism spend by 5% per year.
The tourism potential of the City of Hull and its status as the UK City of Culture 2017 is fully exploited on the new site, www.visithullandeastyorkshire.com. An ambitious year-round programme of world-class events, complemented by a diverse offering of accommodation providers, attractions and cultural venues all take centre stage. Hull has also recently achieved the no. 8 spot in the Rough Guide's 2016 Top 10 Cities to Visit so the new site aims to contribute to the destination's current high profile.
The Yorkshire Wolds occupy a prominent position on the site too. Often referred to as 'David Hockney Country', the area's vivid landscapes have provided the inspiration for over 50 years of the famous artist's works and is now a popular retreat for lovers of the outdoors. The medieval market town of Beverley is also highlighted, luring visitors to explore its cobbled streets, historic buildings and awe-inspiring Minster.
The design is clean and easy to navigate using strong imagery to set the scene for the sub-destinations, each with its own distinctive branding. NVG's popular Website Content Service has been deployed for the development of the site, providing the VHEY team with invaluable support in terms of content input and linking to pdfs, videos and podcasts.
Andy Gray, Tourism Manager at Visit Hull and East Yorkshire comments: "Our priority was to create a responsive site that suitably represents the region. Working with NVG to produce a platform that met our requirements, on budget and on a relatively tight turnaround was a pleasure. The transition from our old site was seamless and now leaves us in a great position to develop our online offer."
The best of the region's tourism businesses were the first to see the new site at an official launch at VHEY's Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards ceremony on the 17th March at The Spa Bridlington.
