New Tourism Website Inspires Visitors to Explore the 'Original Modern City'

The first phase of a major project to develop a full place marketing platform for Marketing Manchester has now been completed by the team at New Mind | tellUs in an unprecedented six week timeframe and a new tourism website is inspiring visitors to explore the 'Original Modern City'.

The site, www.visitmanchester.com forms part of a set of destination sites which will represent Manchester as a place to meet, invest, do business, study and live as well as visit.   Marketing Manchester's brief to New Mind | tellUs specified that a more joined up picture of Manchester should be presented, improving the user journey and crossover between the sites and exploiting all the latest tools to meet the demands of today's digital users.  

Marketing Manchester's new branding is incorporated within a responsive, modern design reflecting the destination's positioning.  A wide range of eye-catching, high quality imagery has been exploited and auto-play videos on a selection of the Things to Do pages help to add impact and captivate the visitor.      

The site utilises some brand new functionality from New Mind | tellUs too.  The 'Featured Items' control allows Marketing Manchester's internal team to build 'blocks' on pages and populate with a range of content, including featured pages, DMS products, YouTube videos, tweets and blogs.  The team is able to manage the layout within the confines of the design, adding new rows of blocks of different sizes and altering minor styling elements such as the colour of links. 

The site also delivers on Marketing Manchester's commercial requirements.  The destination has taken advantage of the revenue generating opportunities offered by the Visit Ad Network resulting from the recent partnership between New Mind | tellUs and CAN Digital Solutions.  The site has been designed to incorporate large format banner ads to provide maximum exposure without compromising on the user experience.
