New Visit Hampshire Site Offers the Perfect Blend of City, Coast & Country

Hampshire, the most visited county in the South East has a brand new responsive website, www.visit-hampshire.co.uk, courtesy of New Mind | tellUs.

Tourism is worth almost £3 billion annually to the Hampshire economy and accounts for over 9% of the county’s total employment.  Each year Hampshire is visited by 4.3 million staying visitors and a further 37 million day visitors.

Hampshire County Council has worked with New Mind | tellUs since 2008.  Replacing a site which was originally launched in 2011, the new site aims to increase the profile of Hampshire as an outstanding visitor destination and boost the county's promotion to domestic and international visitors whilst generating income for the local economy.

The site incorporates Visit Hampshire's new branding positioning the destination as 'the perfect blend of city, coast and country', with a focus on its two national parks,three fantastic cities, stunning Solent coastline, thriving culture and history and heritage.  

Visit Hampshire's new Explore section incorporates new inspirational imagery sitting alongside a wealth of content on Hampshire's cities, towns and villages.  Visitors are encouraged to discover the cities of Southampton, Portsmouth and Winchester, the countryside of East Hampshire, the South Downs, Test Valley and the New Forest National Park.  

The recently launched grid view for search results has been utilised to allow swift access to Hampshire's abundant tourism product offering, complementing the list and map view facilities and boosting the user experience.   

The site will also feature dedicated campaign pages, each with a unique look and feel.  The themed campaign templates will be Cycle Southern England and Hampshire Military Attractions and will be created in phase, two due towards the end of 2017. 

Andrew Bateman of Hampshire County Council comments: "We are delighted that the new Visit Hampshire website is now live.  It is a strong platform to showcase the County and an excellent tool for visitors to be inspired to holiday in Hampshire, with an improved structure for easier navigation, user generated content illustrating an authentic feel from people already in destination and the ability to translate the website into 16 different languages to help serve international visitors."

New Mind | tellUs secured the project following a rigorous tender process, involving over 60 companies, of which 11 were shortlisted and 4 selected for the final presentation stage.
