Is Your Destination Ready for National B&B Day?

12th January 2018

Categories: Our News

The 24th March 2018 is National B&B Day, an industry-wide event dedicated to the celebration of the Great British B&B, so we would like our DMO clients in the UK to spread the word and get as many visitors as possible staying in B&Bs over that weekend.

There are over 20,000 B&Bs in the UK, contributing over £2 billion annually to the UK economy.  The event will celebrate the best of Britain’s small and independent accommodation businesses (B&Bs, guest houses and small independent hotels), from traditional seafront properties to converted windmills, castles and vineyards and recognise their incredible achievements and contributions to the hospitality sector.

Launched at the B&B Association's Summit in October, the event received the support of the Tourism Minister and has since attracted a growing number of travel industry partners including VisitBritain, the AA, eviivo and some of our destinations including Visit Wiltshire, Bournemouth Tourism and Visit Brighton.  By getting more destinations on-board to promote it to their B&Bs and encourage them to take part, we can help to establish National B&B day as an important annual event.

The aim is to make guests think of a B&B when planning a short break or holiday.  B&Bs are being encouraged to offer something a little special to their guests over that weekend, whether it be a breakfast in bed, free afternoon tea, tasting of local wines and produce or a free beauty treatment to entice people to book.  B&Bs can check out the official National B&B Day website to get some inspiration for offers.  Deals can be listed free of charge simply by completing a short form on the website.  Of course, B&Bs can promote the event within their own marketing media too.

Sponsorship is free for destinations. To feature on the Sponsors page, email a logo and short supporting message to moreinfo@bandbday.com or contact ian.hardwick@eviivo.com. DMOs are also encouraged to promote it on their own sites, motivate their businesses to get involved and tell their visitors about any offers in their destinations.

National B&B Day needs your support so we hope you can get involved.
